Prayagraj: Chaos prevailed in front of Kotwali on Thursday morning as a large number of sanitation staff of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation ( PMC ) blocked the old GT road by parking garbage collection vehicle in the middle of the road. Thy were agitated following alleged manhandling of one of the staff members by Sunny Chopra , nephew of local corporator Sunita Chopra . The aggrieved staff alleged that after manhandling, the worker was handed over to the police.
As soon as the news spread, the sanitation workers stalled work and ghearoed the police station. A large number of workers gathered in front of the police station and raised slogans against the police and the councillor. The ruckus went on for around three hours.
The BJP corporator also reached the spot and tried to calm them down, but the sanitation workers were not ready to agree. They were adamant on registering a case against the accused Sunny Chopra and demanding his arrest. During the ruckus, higher officials of the municipal Corporation, including the additional municipal commissioner, reached the spot and after persuasion, the councillor's nephew apologised to the sanitation worker.
After about three hours, the protest ended, and the workers started working..
