NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday said he doubts whether the PM Modi-led government in Centre will survive till 2026. He asserted that if it happens, then a political change in Maharashtra and other states will be triggered. Raut was responding to the speculations of the former Rajapur MLA of Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajan Salvi quitting the Uddhav Thackeray-led party after its poor performance in the November 2024 Maharashtra assembly polls.
"My doubt remains whether the government at the Centre will survive till 2026. Modi will not complete his term, and when that happens, there will be changes not only in Maharashtra but also in other places (states)," Raut said. On speculation about Salvi, he said that he is in touch with the leader and spoke to him.
He added that Salvi expressed disappointment over some local issues. Raut further said that Thackeray is also in touch with Salvi. He claimed that there is no unrest ongoing in Sive Sena (UBT) when asked about some leaders might switch over to other parties.
"This too shall pass. All days are not the same," he added. The Lok Sabha elections held in 2024 witnessed the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) securing 293 seats, surpassing the required majority of 272 in the 543-member House, enabling PM Modi 's third consecutive term.
However, unlike its previous two terms where the BJP held a comfortable majority independently, the party now relies on coalition partners to maintain its parliamentary majority..
