PM Narendra Modi on his maiden visit to Ukraine will take the 'Train Force One' from Poland. This is a train which has been used in the past by top world leaders, including US President Joe Biden and French leaders Emmanuel Macron to travel to the war-torn country. The train has luxurious interiors and also high security to keep passengers safe.

Warsaw : Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is currently on a visit to Poland, will leave for Ukraine’s capital Kyiv on Friday, August 23. This will be the first visit by an Indian PM to the war-torn country in decades. He will be travelling by ‘Train Force One’, a luxury train from Poland to Ukraine.



Key features of train taken to Ukraine by world leaders The train which PM Modi is travelling is a luxurious one and is often preferred for travel to Ukraine by world leaders. Some of the leaders who have travelled on this train include US President Joe Biden and France leader Emmanuel Macron. Apart from that the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy also uses the ‘Train Force One’ for his international trips.

PM Modi will spend some 20 hours travelling by the train and spend 7 hours in the country. This is the first visit of an Indian leader to Ukraine, ever since the war with Russia started. The train was built in 2014 for tourists in Crimea.

Later after the war began, it was repurposed to take world leaders to the country, ravaged by war. The train has a modern and spacious interior, much like some high-end hotel. A big table for meetings, a cosy sofa and a television set are placed inside it for the travellers.

The berths to sleep on are also designed very well. The train also has very high security arrangements to keep its VIP travellers safe. It boasts of armoured windows to secure communication systems.

It also has a surveillance system, a secure communication network and a security team which monitors the situation outside. One must note that despite an ongoing war in the country, this train has been able to evacuate hundreds of people, transported several prominent leaders and kept the transport system of the country up and running. Though there have been power outages, the country has still managed to continue train operations with minimal delay.

PM Modi’s visit to Ukraine Meanwhile PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the country comes at a very crucial time. THe Indian leader has said earlier that during his visit he is trying to build upon the earlier conversations with President Zelensky on strengthening bilateral cooperation. India has always advocated a peaceful resolution to the conflict and PM Modi himself has been vocal about the same on several international forums and platforms.

The visit by PM Modi to Ukraine comes just a month after he met Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Moscow..
