Prayagraj: A public interest litigation ( PIL ) has been filed before the Allahabad High Court to restrain controversial priest of Dasna Devi temple of Ghaziabad Yati Narsinghanand from making objectionable comments against Prophet Mohammad and the holy book Quran. The petition filed by two Mumbai residents - Mohammad Yusuf and Zakir Husaun Mustafa Shaikh-- have also sought the removal of his recent ' hate speech ' from social media platforms. The plea states that if immediate action was not taken against Narsinhanand, who is spreading a dangerous atmosphere worldwide, ‘then all systems for our country as well as the states will fail'.
It prays that he should be restrained from making disputed religious statements. The petitioners have requested the court to issue direction to the state of Uttar Pradesh to take legal action against Narsinhanand since he was doing anti-national work. The PIL is likely to be taken up by the court soon.
Narsinghanand is already facing multiple FIRs across the country for the alleged objectionable remarks he made during a programme in Ghaziabad on Sept 29. He is also facing an FIR for allegedly making hate speech at a conclave in Haridwar in Dec 2021. He is currently out on bail.
