Two Tropical Smoothie Cafés will open in Hickory in the fall, according to Melissa Holland of DDI Construction of Hickory. One location will open at 2367 U.S.

Holland said the space Panera was in will be divided and shared by Chicken Salad Chick and Tropical Smoothie Café. The location in Viewmont is expected to open around Dec. 1.

Chicken Salad Chick will open around the middle of September. Tropical Smoothie Café is an Atlanta-based chain known for smoothies, acai bowls, salads and sandwiches. The company identifies the peanut butter banana crunch flatbread and chipotle chicken club as two popular menu items, according to tropicalsmoothiecafe.

com . As of July 12, there were Tropical Smoothie Café locations in 44 cities and towns in North Carolina. The closest cafes to Hickory are in Denver and Mooresville.

Pizza Inn in Hickory is scheduled to open by the end of August, according to owner Sarah Solanki. The site of the former Snack Bar was purchased in November of 2023. The Pizza Inn at the site of the former Snack Bar is scheduled to open by the end of August.

Solanki said the business is waiting for a food service permit from the Catawba County Health Department. Pizza Inn is a Texas-based chain of pizza restaurants. The restaurants are known for having a pizza buffet.

The US Foods Chef’Store will open Aug. 24, according to the website of US Foods. The Chef’Store is located at 521-A U.

S. Highway 70 SW in the Hickory Village Shopping Center. Chef’Stores are membership-free, warehouse-style grocery providers that offer fresh produce, meat and dairy products as well as restaurant equipment and catering and janitorial supplies.
