Kloey Arsenault answers a question Tuesday about being an ironworker during the Maine Frontline Climate Formation career fair at the Maine People’s Alliance in downtown Lewiston. Various community organizations and local unions held the career fair to help people of color, women and other marginalized workers access to union careers that will have a positive impact on the climate. The Maine Frontline Climate Formation is working to make sure new green energy jobs are union jobs with good pay and benefits, and are accessible to everyone.
Arsenault graduated from Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham started her ironworker apprenticeship soon after with Ipswich Bay Glass. “It takes a lot of grit to be an ironworker,” Arsenault said.
