Phillip Schofield has returned to our television screens with a mighty bang as he announced his new stint in Cast Away. The former This Morning presenter stepped down for the spotlight in 2023 after he admitted to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a much younger colleague who worked on the show. On Tuesday, he announced his return to the limelight after he bagged a starring role on the brutal Channel 5 reality show Cast Away.

The series follows a single celebrity who gets dumped on a tropical island in Madagascar for 10 days. No doubt the show - which has already been filmed - gave the disgraced broadcaster time to reflect on the scandal that he feared would break him. Speaking about the reason he joined the show, Phillip explained: "This is most definitely a first for me and the only thing I felt compelled to do.
