Phill Schofield's life after This Morning wasn't easy according to his former ITV colleague, Lorraine Kelly. The Scottish TV veteran, 64, said she was "heartbroken" when the former Broom Cupboard star, 62, quit his beloved show 16 months ago before admitting to an 'unwise but not illegal' affair with a young runner on the show. Phil has kept a low profile over the past year after admitting his career was 'finished' and vowed to stay out of the limelight.

However, he's now making a dramatic comeback with a new gig on Channel 5, Cast Away, which sees him stranded on a desert island for 10 days. Breaking his silence on the role, the dad-of-two took to Instagram today saying: "Now you know how I spent my Summer! Alone for 10 days, no food, no water, no crew. My story of survival, both on a desert island and off it.

" The star turned the comments off so that fans could not share their thoughts on his TV redemption. Many of Phil's fans have taken to X, formerly Twitter , saying they are stunned by the news. However, despite his dramatic fall from grace, Lorraine predicted her pal would make a comeback, saying last year: "He's doing all right and he will be all right.

" However, she admitted Phil's life was "hard", explaining she said she found 'cancel culture' "very sad and quite depressing", and that there are people in the entertainment industry who are "gleeful at seeing somebody's downfall".
