Former This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield is returning to TV screens for the first time in over a year for a new Channel 5 adventure series Cast Away. The 62-year-old has been away from TV since he admitted to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger male colleague. Before he admitted the affair, Schofield had stepped down from ITV's This Morning following a reported rift with co-host Holly Willoughby.

The 62-year-old, is leaving behind his comfortable lifestyle to survive on a deserted island just off the coast of Madagascar as he's seen looking a far cry to what ITV audiences are used to. Over three episodes, the father-of-two will be seen facing an enormous test of endurance and resilience as he spends ten days and nine nights isolated on the uninhabited island. However, a production crew will be on standby 30 minutes offshore, ready to step in if necessary, Phillip's well-being and safety will constantly be under surveillance.

Channel 5 has teased the programme with a preview showing Phillip confronting the elements on the remote island, reports Cornwall Live . The footage shows him sleeping shirtless and being jolted awake by a severe storm that threatens his shelter. Capturing the ordeal on his own camera, Phillip exclaims: "Bl**dy hell! Disaster has struck.

Howling wind blowing through everything. "It's taken out all the front. This is about to tear itself to pieces and there's still every possibility that it will.

Wasn't expecting that." In the official.
