TV pundit Sarah-Louise Robertson has suggested that "tentative approaches" have been made towards Fern in light of reports that This Morning's ratings have taken a hit under new hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley. Sarah also revealed in Woman magazine that there are whispers about a potential comeback for Fern's former co-host Phillip Schofield , who left the show amidst controversy.

She said: "His and Fern's TV partnership before it soured generated viewing figures of an average 1.1 to 1.4million - something ITV chiefs trying to attract advertisers can't ignore when today's show is reported to receive 486,000.

Holly Willoughby 'supporting Phillip Schofield' after Eamonn swipe Fern Britton said she had "no vengefulness" towards Phillip Schofield (Image: Chris Jackson/Getty Images) She stated that the duo are "missed" on the show and cited other instances where public feuds in the entertainment industry were resolved with great success. "Look how we've seen Kim Cattrall return to the Sex and the City reboot, despite her public war of words with co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, and Robbie Williams make up with the rest of Take That," Sarah added.

She concluded by saying: "If they can do it when really hurtful things were said, then Fern and Phil could easily mend their old friendship." Phillip Schofield and Fern Britton began their successful stint as co-hosts of the show in 2002. However, a reported pay dispute led to tension, with claims that Fern was earning £250,000 less annually than Phillip.

Additionally, it was alleged that Phillip's salary for the game show Mr and Mrs was three times that of his co-host. When Fern exited the show, she acknowledged her colleagues but noticeably left out Phillip. Don't miss.

Read our Privacy Policy In 2013, Phillip fuelled speculation about their feud by telling Heat magazine he hadn't spoken to Fern for 15 years. The feud publicly escalated in 2018 when Fern claimed she wasn't invited to This Morning's 30th birthday celebrations. Phillip responded on Twitter, stating: "Odd really, because she was invited and declined #memoryloss we'd have loved her to be there.

A vital and much-loved part of the show." Fern retweeted his post and countered: "No. I had no invitation to decline.

" It later emerged that Fern's agents had declined the invitation without her knowledge. Earlier this year, Fern threatened to leave Celebrity Big Brother if Phil were to join. However, recent signs suggest a thawing of relations.

In a recent TV interview, Fern expressed "no vengefulness" towards Phillip and acknowledged they "worked together extremely well" and shared "many happy times", sparking rumours of a possible reconciliation. Trending She remarked that Phillip had "paid a big price" for his self-confessed "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger colleague, which exploded into a media frenzy and precipitated his departure from This Morning in May 2023. Speculation has been rife that Phillip was in the running to take over Richard Madeley's spot on Good Morning Britain, with PR expert Edward Coram James suggesting that Phillip could regain his daytime TV throne.

Talent management heavyweight Professor Jonathan Shalit is also convinced that he will make a TV comeback "at some point" and believes he'll be given another opportunity on the small screen. Yet, Professor Shalit seems less certain about an immediate comeback on ITV, suggesting he could instead appear on Channel 4 or 5.
