Saturday, September 21, 2024 Philippines tourism flourishes as Qatar investments spark unprecedented growth, revolutionizing the country’s halal hospitality industry for future success. Qatar’s investments are poised to significantly contribute to the growth of the Philippines’ experiential tourism sector while boosting the halal-readiness of its hospitality industry, according to an official from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Aleem Siddiqui M Guiapal, Director and Programme Manager of the DTI’s Halal Industry Development and Trade Office, made these remarks during an interview with Gulf Times at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2024.

Over 20 Philippine companies are participating in the event. Guiapal highlighted that Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco is actively championing the “Muslim-friendly Philippines” campaign, which dovetails with the DTI’s efforts to enhance the country’s halal industry. He also praised LuLu Group International’s efforts in expanding the reach of Philippine products in GCC countries, including Qatar.

Through its sourcing and distribution hub at the Calamba Premiere International Park in Laguna, LuLu is set to broaden the availability of Philippine halal products across its hypermarkets in the Gulf region..
