Thursday, January 23, 2025 On January 27, 1995, the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown opened its doors just one block from City Hall, anchoring itself in the heart of Center City. Over the past 30 years, it has earned the nickname “the palace on Market Street,” becoming renowned for its exceptional event capabilities and signature hospitality. Designed by Bower Lewis Thrower Architects, the 23-story hotel debuted with 1,200 guest rooms and over 85,000 square feet of meeting space.

In 1999, the acquisition of the Headhouse Tower expanded the property to more than 1,400 guest rooms and nearly 100,000 square feet of event space, solidifying its status as Pennsylvania’s largest hotel and the fifth-largest Marriott in the United States. The facility includes a 34,000-square-foot ballroom, a 32,000-square-foot exhibition hall, 27 conference rooms, and three permanent boardrooms. Connected by a skywalk to the Pennsylvania Convention Center, the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown serves as the premier convention headquarters for many major events in the city.
