Luke Littler is the bookies' favourite to win the PDC World Darts Championship (Picture: Getty) Darts legend Phil Taylor has backed Luke Littler to match his records in the sport and revealed how the teenage sensation is 'doing the other players' heads in' with his nonchalant approach on the oche. Littler's extraordinary rise continued this week as he swept aside Martin Lukeman in comprehensive fashion to win the Grand Slam of Darts, averaging over 100 across the tournament. Remarkably, Lukeman took a 2-0 lead in the final before Littler won 15 legs on the bounce to secure an astonishing 16-3 victory at Wolverhampton's Aldersley Leisure Village.

Ranked 164 on the planet just a year ago, Littler now finds himself in fifth spot in the PDC's Order of Merit and the 17-year-old's latest triumph takes his total prize-money haul close to £1million. The Runcorn-born sensation, boasting ten title wins in 2024, is now the favourite to come out on top at the PDC World Darts Championship, starting at Alexandra Palace next month. Taylor, widely regarded as the greatest darts player in.
