The Philippines is competing for several prestigious titles in the upcoming 2024 World Travel Awards (WTA) to reinforce its status as a premier global destination, the Department of Tourism (DOT) has announced. This follows the country’s remarkable success at the Asia and Oceania Gala Ceremony earlier this month, according to DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco. Scheduled for November, the 31st WTA sees the Philippines nominated in key categories, hoping to build on the momentum from last year’s wins.

Frasco said the country is in the running for the World’s Leading Beach Destination, Dive Destination, Island Destination, and City Destination, with Manila taking center stage for the latter. Cebu is also making waves as it competes for the title of World’s Leading Wedding Destination, while the historic walled city of Intramuros has earned a nomination for World’s Leading Tourist Attraction. The DOT’s flagship campaign, “Love the Philippines,” is a contender for World’s Leading Marketing Campaign, with the agency itself vying for the title of World’s Leading Tourist Board.

Private sector players such as Cebu Pacific competes for World’s Leading Long-Haul Low-Cost Airline, Savoy Hotel Manila for World’s Leading Airport Hotel, and Discovery Primea for World’s Leading Business Hotel. Additionally, luxury resorts such as City of Dreams Manila, Okada Manila, and Amanpulo are up for awards in various categories. Frasco expressed gratitude for the internat.
