Motorists should expect delays ahead of James Blunt’s highly-anticipated show at Red Hill Auditorium on Thursday night. Main Roads WA has alerted drivers in the area of a lane closure that will likely trigger road congestion this evening. There will be a westbound lane closure on Toodyay Road from 3pm to 12am as well as traffic management and speed reduction measures in place.

Gates open at 7pm with the Pierce Brothers as the supporting act. Tonight’s show is special as it marks Blunt’s return to Australia for his first tour in over six years. “Australia, I’m coming to get you! It’s been a few years since I last toured Down Under, and you’ve always been like a second home to me,” he said.

“I cannot wait to be touring there again and playing for some of the best audiences in the world!” The English star’s Aussie tour comes a month after his outrageous promise to legally change his name if fans could help get his debut album to No. 1 in the charts. In early October, he told followers that he would change his name to “whatever the public wanted” if Back To Bedlam rose to the top.

Blunty McBluntface emerged as the winner in a poll of his social media users — a twist on Boaty McBoatface, the winner of a 2016 survey which went viral when the public was given the chance to name a £200 million (AUD$390 million) ship. Luckily for the You’re Beautiful singer, but to the dismay of humoured fans, Blunt got to keep his name after the album reached spot No. 7.
