A rescue dog celebrated his birthday with cake and Peppa Pig biscuits as he continues to look for a home nearly three years after he was taken in. Cane Corso Ralph celebrated his birthday at the RSPCA in Brighton with a dog-friendly cake and biscuits in the shape of the children’s character – a homage to the pooch’s favourite soft toy. Staff are now hoping to rehome Ralph after over 1,000 days spent in the charity’s care.

Ralph the Cane Corso has been in the care of the RSPCA for over 1,000 days (Image: RSPCA) Jenny Eden, manager at RSPCA Brighton, said: “Ralph is such a wonderful dog - he’s larger than life but a real sweetheart, and although we all love him here at the centre, it breaks our hearts with every month that goes by without anybody choosing Ralph. “He came to us after his owner could no longer care for him and when he arrived he was very anxious and struggling with a severe eye condition that impacted his vision. “During his time with us Ralph has matured from a worried adolescent into a big, cheeky, young adult.

He underwent surgery to improve his eye condition, and our team has worked tirelessly to improve Ralph’s confidence through behaviour training, and he’s come on leaps and bounds. Once you have gained his trust he becomes a big, soppy, cuddly boy.” Since being rescued in 2021, Ralph has spent 1,050 days in the care of the RSPCA.
