Pearl Abyss announced on August 26 that it received the Seoul Mayor's Award at the 2024 Hallyu Expo Grand Prize. This award was given in recognition of its contributions to spreading the Korean wave by promoting the excellence of K-games and showcasing content set against the backdrop of the Joseon era and Seoul. Pearl Abyss's flagship game, Black Desert, is an MMORPG released in 2014 that has become a globally popular game, enjoyed by over 50 million players across more than 150 countries.

It is one of the few Korean games that has expanded across various platforms such as mobile, and console (Xbox, PS4), achieving global success. The new content of Black Desert, "Land of the Morning Light," attempts to blend medieval European fantasy with the Joseon Dynasty, providing a unique and enjoyable experience by expanding traditional Korean history and regions. Pearl Abyss collaborated with organizations like the Korea Tourism Organization, National Museum Cultural Foundation, Cultural Heritage Administration, and Korea National University of Cultural Heritage to deliver high-quality results.

In May of this year, the sequel to "Land of the Morning Light," titled "Land of the Morning Light: Seoul," was first unveiled in Beynac, France. It participated in the 'Korea House,' a Korean promotion center in Paris during a global sports festival, raising Korea's profile as a representative game of Korea. The content received acclaim from international media.

PC Gamer stated that "Pearl Abyss's continuous efforts and new attempts are remarkable," and added, "Through 'Land of the Morning Light,' you can see the dedication and effort of the developers to encapsulate Korea's history and culture." MMORPG.com praised, "The beautiful scenery, architecture, clothing, and food of the Joseon era have been beautifully represented," and noted, "The story feels like a love letter reciting Korean tradition and folklore.

" Released on August 7, "Land of the Morning Light - Seoul" features a story exploring the capital city of Seoul. The game vividly implements grand Joseon-era palaces and streets in Hanyang, including Gyeongbokgung, Gwanghwamun, Gyeonghoeru, and Changdeokgung. Notably, it allows players to freely explore the restricted interior of Geunjeongjeon in Gyeongbokgung Palace within the game.
