"I respect the commissioners and the presidents wanting to keep the tradition of the bowls who have been so important to the growth of college football," Stokan said. "We just host first-class events. It's very difficult to put on these events week to week if you are going to do home games on campuses when you're talking about doing it during the holiday season.
" This will be one of the debates the conference commissioners and school presidents will have after the 2025-26 season when it comes to tweaking the College Football Playoff format. The quarterfinals will also be played on Dec. 31 and Jan.
