For years, Paris has been renowned as the symbol of romance, a city unparalleled in its ability to ignite passion. Its streets, world-famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and dinners along the Seine have long been associated with love and affection. However, a recent survey conducted by Talker Research and Funjet Vacations reveals a shift in perception, with Maui, Hawaii, now being crowned as the world's most romantic destination.

Maui, known for its pristine beaches, landscapes, and secluded retreats, was selected by 34% of respondents as their preferred destination for romance. Paris, despite its enduring appeal, followed closely behind with 33%. While the French capital remains a cherished spot for many, it appears that contemporary couples are increasingly drawn to more private, nature-oriented locations .

According to the survey, which involved 2,000 American participants , 69% participants believed that smaller, hidden locations offer a more romantic experience than larger, well-known cities. In a world where urban life often dominates, couples are seeking solitude and a chance to escape. Almost half (45%) of the participants indicated that lesser-known destinations are more conducive to fostering intimacy.

The survey results highlight a change in how romance is perceived and experienced. While Paris continues to captivate the hearts of many, more picturesque and relaxed destinations are gaining prominence. Rome (29%) and Venice (27%), both rich in history and architectural splendor, were among the top five romantic locations.

However, even these iconic cities are being challenged by more exotic and tropical destinations like Cancun (19%), Costa Rica (13%), and the British Virgin Islands (12%). This emerging trend doesn't necessarily mark the end of Paris's romantic reign but rather reflects an evolution in what couples desire from their romantic escapes. Maui, with its perfect blend of adventure, tranquility, and breathtaking beauty, embodies this new wave of romanticism.

From discovering hidden waterfalls to witnessing breathtaking sunsets atop Haleakalā or simply walking hand-in-hand along the pristine beaches, the island provides a more intimate and personalized experience compared to the grand, yet often crowded, streets of Paris.
