Pachinko has been one of the best shows backed by Apple TV in recent years. The drama has been highly praised for its writing and the performances of A list cast from the Japanese and Korean entertainment industry. The season 2 trailer has been unveiled with cinematography just as delightful and it has left fans in awe.

Based on the 2017 novel by Min Jin Lee, the show is set to return to Sunja (Kim Min-ha)'s story. Season one followed Sunja from childhood into adulthood, exploring the sacrifices she made to secure her and her family's future. Last we saw Sunja had to come to terms with her husband's arrest and the possibility of him never coming back.

While grieving she also decides to put her future in her own hands. She then gains some independence as a kimchi seller. Pachinko has so far been a faithful adaptation of the source material sans a few twists.

It is unclear how close the makers will remain to the book in season two. According to Deadline, the showrunner has revealed that the second season will explore more drama due to historical turmoil at the time. I'm soooooo intrigued by this scene! By his reaction he looks shocked.

He either didn't intended to let it get to that point (kill him) or he was even pressured to do it and is disgusted at the same time about himself. Oh Hansu! — Alessandra (@alexlmho) The first season explored Sunja's story during Japanese occupation of South Korea, meanwhile, Pachinko Season 2 will explore a multigenerational story after a time gap of 14 years (as mentioned in the trailer). The showrunner Soo Hugh said, “We do get to World War II in Season 2.

" She is most likely to face problems as the war will put her business and her family at risk. She will once again have to fight to keep her family safe. Kim Min Ha who plays Sunja's younger version recently opened up about the character in an interview with Deadline.

Talking about season two she said, “[Sunja will] become stronger, even though there are so many burdens on her shoulders. It’s about the story of her, continued from Season 1..

. even heavier, but still, there’s joy.” anna sawai as naomi in the trailer for season 2 of pachinko — poppy (@notthatpoppy) The showrunner also revealed that season one did not exhaust all the material from the book and the story of the other family generations and their battles will be explored more in season two.

The trailer also showed Lee Min Ho's Koh Hansu returning during turbulent times to give her support. Once again Sunja will have to decide for herself the kind of life she wishes to lead. On the other hand, Sunja's grandson Soloman's story is also explored.

The trailer showed him striking a deal with a powerful Japanese businessman. Jin Ha in an interview revealed that his story has deviated from that of the book. He said, “I think we are seeing him question his preconceived notions of what success looked like when we meet him at the beginning of the season, and I’m rooting for him to find a healthier and less toxic idea of success.

" girl the pachinko opening had me moving every time — rafa (@dongttaro) Pachinko season 2 will also introduce new actors and characters. Soloman will be seen interacting with Naomi while not much about her character has been revealed. The trailer hinted at all characters going through major changes and emotional arcs once again, it could lead to a bigger and better season this time around.

According to an official synopsis for Season 2, “the parallel stories pick up in Osaka in 1945, where Sunja is forced to make dangerous decisions for her family’s survival during World War II, and in Tokyo in 1989, which finds Solomon exploring new, humble beginnings.” The trailer for is powerful, from the music to the characters' resilience. I can’t wait to see the continuation of Sunja’s life.
