Over 60k have been raised for a young Cork mum who suddenly died, one month after giving birth to her baby girl. Aileen Wilkinson, aged 32, suddenly died following a “tragic event” one month after giving birth to her little girl, Rosa. Originally from Cork, she worked as a nurse at Melbourne’s Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Australia.

She suddenly passed away on Wednesday, leaving behind her partner, Marco, and their little girl. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to bring Aileen home to Ireland. So far, over 60k (over 100,000 Australian dollars) have been raised.

“As you may know we have suddenly lost the beautiful Aileen following an unexpected tragic event. Aileen leaves behind her wonderful partner Marco and beautiful baby girl Rosa who she gave birth to on the 23rd July 2024,” said organiser Kieran Joyce on the fundraiser page. “During this difficult time we are setting up this go fund me for any associated costs in the immediate to get Aileen back to Ireland and as well as setting up things for Rosa’s future.

Any contribution will be greatly appreciated, no matter how great or small, would mean the world to Marco and Rosa. “For those unable to contribute financially, your words of comfort and shared memories of Aileen would be greatly appreciated so we can share with Rosa how much of a presence Aileen was in all of our lives. Thank you.
