Prayagraj : The 35th regional sports festival of athletics, organised by Vidya Bharati , eastern Uttar Pradesh, will be take place at Jwala Devi Saraswati Vidya Mandir Inter College, Civil Lines, from Oct 6-10. About 550 players from the entire region, encompassing 46 districts, are participating in the event. On Oct 6, the Jyoti Yatra will commence from Civil Lines Hanuman Temple with about 3,000 students in attendance.
The programme will be formally inaugurated on Oct 7 at Madan Mohan Malviya Stadium, where Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya will be the chief guest. Sports and youth welfare minister of Uttar Pradesh, Girish Chandra Yadav, will be the special guest. Phulpur Lok Sabha MP Praveen Patel and Vidya Bharati (regional organisation) minister Hemchandra will also be present.
A cultural programme will be held at Jwala Devi School, where the MLA of City North, Harshvardhan Bajpai, will be the chief guest. The chairman of the Education Service Selection Commission Uttar Pradesh, Prof Kirti Pandey, will be the special guest. Justice Shekhar Yadav of Allahabad High Court will be present as the chief guest for the closing ceremony of the sports meet.
