Samuel Borgert, a Brisbane touch rugby league identity, former B105 radio host and stand-up comedian, was sentenced to three-and-a-half-years jail last October after pleading guilty to maintaining an unlawful sexual relationship with a child. Brisbane District Court heard Borgert, who was working as a relationship manager for a city law firm when he was charged with the initial offence, began a sexual relationship with the girl when she was just 13 after meeting her some years earlier. The judge ordered his sentence be suspended after 12 months, meaning he is due to be released from jail this week.
But he has since been charged with a separate offence and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on October 14 to face the new charge. The victim of the offence for which he was jailed said she was furious. “I’m bloody pissed off,” she told The Courier-Mail.
“I can’t believe he only had to serve one year for what he did to me. Now ..
. he’s about to get released. “How the hell can this be allowed to happen?” Borgert, 31, was a leading figure of Brisbane Touch Rugby League, including as a player and official working as a venue manager and referee before he was charged in 2022 with maintaining an unlawfu.
