“The investigation has determined that both motorcycles were travelling at extremely high speed prior to the incident,” OPP said in a release issued Thursday. “It has also been confirmed that speed was a contributing factor in the collision.” Advertisement 2 Story continues below This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.

2. One of the motorcycle drivers was pronounced dead at the scene. The other died shortly afterwards in hospital.

Police did not identify the victims at the time. But later that weekend the Gatineau Olympiques junior hockey team said online that one of the victims was Creed Jones, a popular former goalie for the Olympiques. The Gatineau team said it would honour Jones at an upcoming game Sept.
