A Thursday night out in Oklahoma City reminds me of what makes our community so special – the people and organizations that contribute to our quality of life here in different of ways. The one night included lots of events and people to celebrate, so this is only a snapshot events and people celebrating our community. Sadly, I couldn’t make all of them, like Edmond’s colorful first Thursday art walk – VIBES.

– First stop was to the Oklahoma City University’s Norick Art Center at 1608 NW 26, where a new exhibit showcases pieces from the art collection belonging to community bank NBC Oklahoma and Chairman Ken Fergeson. “Highlights from the Collection of NBC Oklahoma” will be on display through Nov. 22; Thursday was the opening reception.

Heather Lunsford curated the exhibit, which includes paintings and sculptures; many of the artists attended Thursday’s reception, including Denise Duong, Joe Slack and Sonya Terpening, whose works are in the show. For information about the exhibit and the bank’s art efforts, go to nbcwigwam.art .

– The Oklahoma City Chi Omega Alumnae chapter raised more than $481,000 (and counting) to benefit Hearts for Hearing during its awesome Passion for a Fashion event at CK&Co. in Nichols Hills. Guests shopped, enjoyed and a fashion show and learned more about Hearts for Hearing and how these funds will help the organization help children with hearing loss by providing hearing technology, audiology and related therapy services to the.
