Dating apps such as Tinder have already seen a surge in use in the Olympic athletes’ village, according to reports. More than 14,000 of the world ’s fittest, fastest and strongest human beings have descended on Paris for the next fortnight - with 200,000 free condoms scattered around their accommodations in their base north east of the City of Love. And singletons are already lining up potential matches in the village before the opening ceremony even takes place, with MailOnline reporting an increase in activity on Tinder, Hinge, Bumble and other mobile dating apps.

The Olympic village is historically a sex haven for athletes who let loose once their competitions have concluded. And fears of supposed “no-sex beds” made from sustainable cardboard collapsing have been played down by athletes - including Ireland gymnast Rhys McCleneghan, who is a medal contender. But those partaking in additional activities might find the conditions are suboptimal because Paris organisers have decided against installing air conditioning in rooms.

The United States' delegation have brought in their own air con to satisfy their large contingent with temperatures next week set to be in the low 30s - but almost every other country will not have that luxury available, which could increase the steaminess. And Emily Campbell, Team GB’s sole weightlifting representative, recently said on a podcast: “The thing you’ll have is that people finish at different times in the Games. “It’s on for two weeks but the swimmers, the rowers, they’ll start in the first week.

Then the track-and-field might not start until the end of the second week. “In Paris, for example, I’m not until the final day. But essentially yeah, they always say there’s no alcohol in the village and everyone always finds a way to get it in.

“Then there’s basically people who just party in the village and everyone just starts to obviously intermingle. There are thousands of athletes that have been training in discipline for four years, some of the best-looking people on the planet all in one place. “There actually are fish bowls of condoms and stuff around because they know it happens.

” The Games will be officially opened tonight following a unique ceremony along the Seine. It is the first time in Olympic history that the grand opening does not take place in the main stadium. Instead athletes and officials will sail down the river in a convoy.

But a huge number of Team GB star are deciding to skip the event so they can focus on their own events. There will be 327 Brits in action over 16 days, with a target of between 50 and 70 medals following more than £300m of investment from UK Sport. Discovery+ is the new home of the Olympics.

The streamer is set to broadcast 3,800 hours of sport live from Paris. Sports fans can get Discovery+ for £3.99 a month until the end of 2024 via Amazon Prime's video channels.

This also comes with an Amazon Prime 30-day free trial ..
