One Olympian is truly making the most of his time in the city of love . US Olympic rower Justin Best has just proposed to his girlfriend Lainey Duncan on live television in front of the Eiffel Tower and hoards of excited onlookers. After Best took out the gold for Team USA in the Men's Four Rowing Final, he rode the glory straight into a picturesque proposal.

He shared that he knew Duncan was "special" when she immediately supported his Olympic dreams "without question". Duncan appeared completely surprised and smiled and laughed along as Best spoke. Ferociously intelligent. Your kindness is leaps and bounds. I don't know anyone that doesn't love you," he continued.

"This is going to be the easiest question of my life. I want to spend the rest of my life with you and raise a family together. Duncan, will you marry me?" Without hesitation, Duncan said yes and the crowd burst into cheers and applause.

"And so you're wondering what these yellow roses — each yellow rose represents a day that you and I have been together," he explained. He continued to reveal that there were exactly 2,738 yellow roses to match their snapchat streak of 2,738.

"Oh my god," Duncan laughed. "That is so sweet." READ MORE: These trendy UGGs are a winter necessity The proposal comes after the pair have been together for almost a decade.

The pair marked their ninth anniversary March this year. Earlier this week, Best took out the gold medal with his rowing teammates Nick Mead, Michael Grady and Liam Corrigan. After Best's win, Duncan took to her Instagram with photos of the moment simply writing: "no words".
