Children from Ordnance Factory Medak (OFMK) AVNL Estate left an indelible mark on an international audience during the closing ceremony of the Virtual Book Fair India 2024. The event, which saw participation from 22 countries including the USA, Brazil, France and Australia, was a vibrant celebration of literature and culture, with Indian performances taking the spotlight. Representing India’s classical arts, Bharatanatyam students Kumari G.
Likhita Gayatri and Kumari S. Srija delivered stunning performances that were recorded and broadcast globally under the banner of Vissa Nilayam, a voluntary organisation founded by Telugu poet Satya Sai Vissa. Both students train at Abhinaya Vani Nritya Niketan, a dance academy run by the Women’s Welfare Association at the Medak branch.

Siddharth recited verses from the Bhagavad Gita, while T. Srujana, D. Mahima, D.
Hamsini and Sivendra presented devotional poetry. These performances highlighted India’s deep-rooted artistic traditions and resonated with intellectuals and culture enthusiasts from across the globe. Poet Satya Sai Vissa, speaking during the event, expressed gratitude to Josyula Prabha Sastry, India’s first Lady Ambassador for Culture, along with organisers like Priyanka Neha and Seejar Sterothra, for their unwavering support in promoting young talent.
He credited such initiatives with nurturing over 500 children from the Medak community in arts and culture over the las.
