Michael Allen Ellsworth was born in Elmhurst, Illinois, on June 19, 1968. He returned home to Oregon with his parents in July 1969. Michael passed away on Sept.
15, 2024, of heart related issues while windsurfing on the Columbia River, pursuing one of his favorite activities. Michael grew up in Portland, where he attended Holy Trinity grade school, Jesuit High School, and the University of San Francisco. He was a great athlete, specializing in soccer and track.
He married AnneMarie Stark in 1992 and started a beautiful family. He was a mortgage broker in Portland before moving to Hood River, Oregon, where he founded and ran a Mortgage company and later co-owned another mortgage company, Hood River Mortgage. He loved finding his customers great loans.
Michael loved the outdoors and the beauty of the Hood River environment. He was an avid fly fisherman, wind surfer, kite surfer and surfer. He also loved surfing and fishing in Mexico.
He had many friends in Hood River through his various activities. Michael is survived by his three wonderful sons, Zachary Ellsworth, Maxwell Ellsworth and Lucas Ellsworth; his ex-wife, AnneMarie Stark; his loving sisters, Cynthia Sullivan and Carri Millette; his nieces and nephews; and his parents, Michael and Barbara Ellsworth. A celebration has been set for Nov.
15 at The Ruins in Hood River from 6-9 p.m. Mike was an avid wind junkie, starting with windsurfing and spent his final day floating across the waters at Rock Creek in Mosier on his wing.
