September 24, 1935 – July 15, 2024 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of The Dom—Dominic J Spallone Jr., an extraordinary friend, family member, and companion. He was loved by everyone in his orbit.

He departed this life on July 15, 2024, at the age of 88. Dominic was born in San Jose, California, on September 24, 1935, to Dominico and Mary Josephine Spallone. From a young age, he displayed a remarkable work ethic and a passion for helping others, values that defined his life.

After his military career in the Air Force, Dominic followed his dreams and moved to Lake Tahoe in 1962. With nothing but pocket change, a car, and a can-do attitude, he opened his first restaurant, fittingly called Dominic’s. He founded several other successful businesses, including The Rams Head, the first 24-hour bar in Incline Village, and Tahoe Supply, which has grown into one of the largest family-owned facility maintenance distribution companies in the United States.

These accomplishments are testaments to his entrepreneurial spirit. Dominic played a pivotal role in the development of Incline Village as a representative of the Incline Village General Improvement District. His work with IVGID was crucial in acquiring and developing recreational facilities, including both the Championship and Mountain golf courses, beaches, athletic fields, and Diamond Peak, which are now key amenities for residents and visitors.

His efforts helped shape Incline Village into one of the most sought-after locations in North America, a legacy we are all proud of. Dominic was known for his warmth, generosity, and humor. He coached hundreds of kids, helping to cement their love for the game of baseball.

His golf game was almost as good as his use of the pencil on the scorecard. He oversaw the Lake Tahoe Polo Club for many years, nurturing one of the most unique and fun golf fraternities ever created. Dominic was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Patty Spallone, with whom he shared 41 wonderful years of marriage.

Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. In his later years, Dom found love and joy with Bobbie Fontes, his beautiful and devoted partner for the past 14 years. She brought renewed happiness to Dom’s life, and their bond was undeniable.

Dominic is survived by his children who adored him, Nick (Kelly) Spallone, and Dane Hansen. He was a proud, fun and loving grandfather to Trevor, Sasha, Maia and DJ and is so deeply missed. Additionally, Dom is survived by loving nieces and nephews, who were very dear to his heart.

His presence was a blessing to everyone around him. His legacy of love, hard work, humor, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.

A celebration of Dominic’s life (Final, Final) will be held on September 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Burnt Cedar Beach in Incline Village. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories of a life well-lived. Those wishing to attend are kindly asked to RSVP by visiting domsfinalfinal.
