Georgia Lou Edwards Lockhart Georgia Lou (Edwards) Lockhart, 85, of Hazel, Kentucky, passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, at Spring Creek Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Murray, Kentucky. Born Aug.

5, 1939, in Murray, she was the daughter of Janie Frances (Hendrick) Edwards and George Raymond Edwards. Lovingly called “Mema” by her children and grandchildren, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Lockhart; daughter, Jerri Rowlett; great-granddaughters, Autumn and Emelia Salazar; and special friend and companion, Bob Starks.



Georgia is survived by her children, David (Carole) Lockhart of Collierville, Tennessee; Gary (Barbie) Lockhart of Hazel; Belinda (Nick) Chavez of Louisville; grandchildren, Shannon (Rich) Taylor of Naperville, Illinois; Brandy (Michael) Gilio of Oswego, Illinois; Jessica Rowlett of Buchanan, Tennessee; Amanda Rowlett of Springville, Tennessee; Cheryl Lockhart of Cincinnati, Ohio; Owen Chavez, Eli Chavez, Sam Chavez and Violet Chavez, all of Louisville; great-grandchildren, Madison Gilio and Sara Gilio, both of Oswego, Max Rodriguez and Roman Rodriguez, both of Naperville, Luna Rowlett of Buchanan; and siblings, Norma Ford of Murray, Donald Edwards of Murray, Ronald Edwards of Roseburg, Oregon, and Shirley Edwards of Murray. Cpl. Mason Blake Arnold Cpl. Mason Blake Arnold, 23, of Murray, passed away on August 9, 2024 at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA.

Mason was born to Johnny Ray Arnold, Jr. and Tara Alexander Arnold on July 18, 2001 in Paris, TN. He graduated from Murray High School and proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marines.

Mason loved art, shooting guns and all things outdoors. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his father, Johnny Ray Arnold, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Tara Arnold of Murray; two brothers, Johnny Ray Arnold III, "Tre" (Krissy Smith) of Kirksey, Matthew Hunter Arnold (April) of Puryear, TN and grandparents, Linda Jean Lindsay Keeler (Donna) of Tucson, AZ and Thomas Hal Alexander of Buchanan, TN. Dale Page Alexander Sr. Dale Page Alexander Sr., 87, of Charleston, Illinois, passed away at 2:04 p.

m. Tuesday, July 23, 2024. Dale was born Feb.

2, 1937, in Highland Park, Michigan, to Eli and Faira (Page) Alexander. He married Karen Julene Campbell on March 1, 1959, in Murray, Kentucky and she passed away April 7, 2015. He later married Mary Jane (McGovern) Ward June 13, 2019 in Charlesto.

Dale graduated from Murray High School in 1955. He was a standout athlete in football, basketball and baseball. He was named All-Conference and All-State offensive end in 1952-1954 and he was inducted into the Murray High School Football Hall of Fame in 1998.

He was also inducted in the Murray High School Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001. He attended Murray State University where he graduated with a bachelor of science in education. While at Murray State, he played baseball and basketball from 1956-1961 and was inducted into the Murray State Athletic Hall of Fame in 1990.

After college, he had a walk on contract with the LA Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox, but he had a beautiful baby girl on the way and decided family was most important. He and his wife Julene started their married life in Murray, then lived for six years in Hickman, Kentucky, where he taught physical education and health and served as athletic director, head baseball coach, head basketball coach and head football coach. They moved to Charleston in 1969 and where he taught physical education and drivers education at at Charleston High School.

He also coached basketball, baseball and football, and started the golf program in 1973. He worked at Charleston High School for 29 years and retired in 1997 after teaching and coaching for 36 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Charleston Country Club.

He truly enjoyed golfing, and always looked forward to golfing with friends every Wednesday and Friday. He played golf the week before he became sick and shot his age - 87. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Julene Alexander Dale is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; his two children, Tammy (Alexander) Fleischut and husband Steve of St.

Louis and Page Alexander and wife Bethany of Springfield, Illinois; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and another great-grandbaby on the way; and two brothers, Don Alexander, his best friend and confidant, and Dean Alexander, both of Murray. A celebration of Dale’s life will be from 2-5 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at the Charles Country Club in Charleston. A time of sharing memories will begin at 3 p.

m. A private burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Sullivan, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charleston Country Club Junior Golf program.

Sandra Kay Canerdy Sandra Kay Canerdy, 80, of New Concord, Kentucky, passed away Friday, Aug.16, 2024, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born May 24, 1944, in Calloway County, Kentucky, to Hafford and Connie Montgomery Adams.

She was a retired legal secretary for the Haverstock Law Office and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband J.

D. Canerdy; and two brothers, Ronald Adams and Leon Adams. Mrs.

Canerdy is survived by a sister-in-law Dorothy Sue Adams of Murray; a niece, Susan Kay Schmidt of Knoxville, Tennessee; six nephews, Bill Adams of Austin, Texas, Chuck Adams and wife Mary Lou of Murray, Mike Adams and wife Theresa of Paducah, Jeff Adams of Mayfield, Tim Adams and wife Suzie of Mayfield and Tony Adams and wife Jennifer of Mayfield; and a special friend, Rick Key of New Concord. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m.

Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, at Murray Memorial Garden with Tony Adams officiating. Burial will follow.

Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug.

Kathie Denese Burnett Kathie Denese Burnett, 65, of Puryear, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family. Kathie was born April 23, 1959, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Leonard Allen and Carolyn Clendenin Allen Casteel.

She retired from the Murray-Calloway Transit Authority as a dispatcher. She was a member of the former Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Hazel. She loved riding her grandchildren around on the golf cart and enjoyed camping at Piney Campground.

She also enjoyed going on cruises and traveling around the country with her husband on their Harley Davidson or in his semi-truck seeing the country.She was an avid Alabama fan and Predators fan. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Allen, and Roger Allen.

She was married Sept. 20, 1980, to Gary “Grease Monkey” Burnett, who survives, of Puryear. She is also survived by one daughter, Amelia Eyres of Puryear; one son Terry (Kayla) Burnett of Puryear, TN; one sister-in-law, Nancy Allen of Hutto, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Samantha, Abigail, Chelsea, Justice, Nicholas, Kyrsten, Calexanderia, Kailyn, Jacob, and Tyler; two great-grandchildren, Lilyanna, and Larry III; a cousin, Helen (Lynn) Key of Paris, Tennessee; and three nieces and one nephew.

The funeral service was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug.

20, 2024, at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris with Bobby Lady and Chad Kennedy officiating. Visitation was from 4-7 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, and from noon to 2 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial followed in Hazel Cemetery.

Dennis Dale Scott Dennis Dale Scott, 71, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, at Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville, Tennessee. He was born Feb.

3, 1953, in Williamson, West Virginia, to Fayette and Marie Smith Scott. He loved his family and family history and still provided for the maintenance of the family cemetery in Canada, Kentucky. He was a devoted son to his mother and was well-known for taking her a daily donut when he got off the night shift.

Dennis moved to Chicago and worked for several years before settling in Murray, where he worked at Mattel, Inc. and then retired from Briggs and Stratton in 2020. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Priscilla “Susie” Vobroucek and Redia Leibee; a brother, Woodford “Woody” Scott; and nephews, Dwayne James and Gregory Vobroucek.

Dennis is survived by sisters, Ruth James of Murray, and Arleanus “Nini” Lott of Oklahoma. Dennis was the baby of the family, but he always looked out for his older siblings. He was a proud “Uncle Denny” to nephews, Brian James of Benton, Don Leibee of Owensboro, Bruno DePasquale of Louisville, and Anthony Scott of Ohio; and nieces, Lisa Howe of Owensboro, Ann Clack of Oklahoma, and Melissa Torres of Illinois.

He also had several great - and great-great-nieces and nephews, including local great nephew Michael James and wife Alesha of Murray. Dennis was also blessed to have a dear life-long family friend, Wilma Woods, who was a great comfort to him in his final days. Dennis could be sarcastic and stubborn, but above all he was thoughtful, funny, and caring.
