[+] options. NuPhy Keyboard maker NuPhy continues to up its game with a slew of new mechanical keyboards and the latest model to join the ranks is the NuPhy Nos75. This is an all-aluminum keyboard with a sleek, low profile and an ANSI 75% layout.

It’s the closest you’ll find to a bespoke keyboard that uses a whole new generation of low-profile switches. The Nos75 is a non-wireless model which might be a dealbreaker for some people, but I have warmed to using wired keyboards as there are no latency issues or battery to worry about. For those of us who use desktop computers like a Mac mini, it’s an ideal keyboard.

All the switches on the Nos75 are hot-swappable which means faulty switches can be easily replaced. In developing the Nos75, NuPhy worked with switch maker Gateron to develop the N1 nano. This is a new generation of low-profile switch that feels more like a full-height model.

Hidden beneath N1 nano’s slender dimensions is a surprising amount of travel distance; it’s 3.4mm, which is the same amount as the Cherry MX Speed Silver. The keycap designs for the NuPhy Nos75 includes the Mayan Inspired set with special keycaps inspired .

.. [+] by Mayan symbols.

NuPhy The N1 nano also has the same speed, linearity and low weight as the Silver switch, but is a third smaller. NuPhy says that every component in the N1 nano has been redesigned and re-engineered to work with a standard normal-profile switch socket. On the underside of the keyboard, there is space for installing a PVD-coated counterweight to add even more heft to the keyboard. The Nos75 offers options when it comes to the choice of gasket mount. Buyers can choose whether to order a top mount, gasket mount or bottom mount thanks to something called omni-mount technology.

To fit the chosen mount, each keyboard also ships with a kit consisting of silicone sockets, beans and strips for mounting the preferred gasket to create a feel on the keyboard that suits the user’s preferences. function loadConnatixScript(document) { if (!window.cnxel) { window.

This is a keyboard designed for tweakers who want to build a mechanical keyboard that’s as individual as they are. The Nos75 doesn’t have the usual silicone feet found on the base of most keyboards. Instead, the Nos75 has something called a GasFoot.

This is a continuous oval-shaped piping that runs around the base of the keyboard and is filled with air so it absorbs the shocks and vibrations produced when typing. The result is a rock-solid typing experience with little recoil or vibration. Most of NuPhy’s keyboards use QMK/VIA firmware which means the Nos75 is fully customizable in terms of remapping keys and programming macros and shortcuts into the keyboard.

In addition to the customization features, the Nos75 also has a full row of function keys which double as multimedia controls for both Windows and macOS. There’s no physical switch for toggling between the two systems by pressing a couple of keys to switch between the two main operating systems. The NuPhy Nos75 is made from CNC-milled aluminum alloy.

NuPhy All the keys on the Nos75 feature south-facing RGB LEDs which can be programmed with a range of color schemes and up to 38 lighting effects. There are plenty of lighting possibilities. As well as the LEDs under each key, there are two sidelights at the ends of the keyboard which can also be customized.

And if you don’t want any lights on at all, you can simply turn them off. The Nos75 can also be ordered with a range of different keycap designs. My sample was delivered with a set of Maya Imprint nSA keycaps which come in a soothing shade of grey, cool white and blue.

Some of the keycaps have lovely Myan-inspired symbols on them, but I opted to fit the more regular options which are also included in the box. There are lots of other keycap designs available to order and all sell for a reasonable $24, so users can chop and change whenever they feel like refreshing their look. So, what is the Nos75 like to type on? It’s an absolute dream and once you get used to a low-profile design it feels far more comfortable than using a full-height mechanical keyboard.

The Nos75 doesn’t have any extendable legs, but the typing angle is fixed at 5 degrees which is about right for creating a comfortable wrist position. The NuPhy Nos75 has hot-swappable switches with south-faviong RGB LEDs. NuPhy The new N1 nano switches feel superb.

They have so much travel, far more than a laptop keyboard. The Nos75 doesn’t feel much different from typing on a full-height mechanical keyboard. If you’ve always found low-profile keyboards lacking in tactile feedback and travel distance, the Nos75 will be a pleasant surprise.

Verdict: The new NuPhy Nos75 is a fabulous low-profile keyboard that has plenty of scope for customization. Even in its default state, it feels like a super-solid keyboard and is a dream to type on. If you want to go a step further and tweak the mounts, weight and other options, you can have a keyboard that suits your tastes perfectly.

It would be good if NuPhy could give a bit more guidance on how the different mounts, plates and stabilizers feel. I’d love to play around with a few different options to see how much difference they make. That said, I love how the NuPhy Nos75 keyboard feels right out of the box.
