The Denver Nuggets and guard Jamal Murray have agreed to a four-year, $208 million extension, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Bobby Marks of ESPN also provided the year-to-year details. Before the extension, Murray was entering the final year of a deal paying him $36 million in 2024-25.

The contract has no effect on the Nuggets' 2024-25 cap situation. Per Spotrac, Denver has $194,648,921 in total cap allocations committed to this year's books. A total of $183,774,315 counts toward the tax aprons .

The Nuggets are past the first tax apron but under the second apron. They are set to pay a tax bill of $20,356,999. The big question right now is the 2025-26 season, especially with Aaron Gordon being a free agent.

As Marks noted, the team is going to pay luxury tax and be above the first apron even with Gordon off the books. A total of $140 million is committed to Nikola Jokić, Michael Porter Jr. and Murray alone.

For now, though, Denver has answered a big piece of the puzzle in agreeing to an extension with Murray, a core piece of the team that won the 2022-23 NBA title. Murray, who turns 28 next February, averaged 21.2 points, shot 42.

5 percent from three and posted 6.5 assists last year. He and the Nuggets open this regular season on Oct.
