There is set to be a huge halves shake-up in the NRL with several star veterans to hit the open market on November 1. The first domino fell earlier this week when 2026 free agent Ben Hunt was released with immediate effect by the Dragons. Halfback-needy teams will no doubt be trying to ascertain Hunt’s interest and value, with the veteran still having at least two to three decent seasons under the belt.

The likes of Daly Cherry-Evans and Adam Reynolds are all without a contract from 2026, so teams will likely be looking for replacements among the free agency pool. Having a gun halfback has never been more important than now, so there are set to be a number of out-of-contract players who will receive plenty of interest over the coming days and weeks. With November 1 just a day away, foxsports.
