NOUGHTIES pop star Matt Hale looks very different now - 22 years after his smash hit Strange and Beautiful. Matt, 52, is a singer-songwriter and record producer who is better known as Aqualung since the early 2000s. His his track Strange and Beautiful which was featured on a TV ad for a Volkswagen Beetle during the summer of 2002.

The track did so well that it landed a top 10 spot on the UK Singles Chart that same year. The singer has also found fame with other tracks including Brighter Than Sunshine and appeared in US film A Lot Like Love. He has released seven albums, with his latest being Dead Letters in 2022, which was praised by music critics as his best album and a brilliant "comeback" album.



The musician has also collaborated with a number of successful artists over the years - from the likes of Jason Mraz, to Sara Bareilles and Tom Chaplin. They also worked with Paloma Faith, Disclosure and an Bat For Lashes on tracks. Matthew has continued to produce music and keeps his fans updated on social media.

He showed off his ageless looks in a black and white snap in February. He posted a close-up selfie of him wearing glasses and a jumper. In another photo, he shared a smiling picture of him from his home and also posted a clip in the recording studio.

During the mid to late 2000s, Aqualung's music was used in a string of TV shows - including US drama Gossip Girl and Grey's Anatomy,. The O.C.

, CSI: Miami, Cold Case, Scrubs, One Tree Hill, Eli Stone, and Brothers and Sisters also featured his music. Despite taking a step back from the public eye, Aqualung continued to create music for others. He co-wrote UR by Tiësto which featured his lead vocal and worked with X Factor star Leona Lewis on her album Echo in 2009.

He also co-wrote songs appearing on albums by for Boyzone. Matthew's track Cold which featured himself and Lucy Schwartz also appeared on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 soundtrack - which sold more than 500,000 copies in the US..
