Thursday, November 7, 2024 Norwegian Air saw impressive passenger numbers in October, flying 2,197,751 travelers, while its regional partner Widerøe added 372,757 passengers to the total, bringing the group’s combined count to 2,570,508. Norwegian also expanded its capacity by 10%, reflecting its commitment to meeting rising demand. The airline achieved an almost 87% load factor, setting a new high for the year outside of the busy summer peak in July.

This milestone underscores Norwegian Air’s successful strategy in maximizing efficiency and enhancing its appeal across both domestic and international routes. “This October has been solid, and I am pleased that we have delivered increased unit revenue and load factor, while at the same time delivering double-digit capacity growth. With the winter season and Christmas holidays approaching, we are excited to see a strong booking momentum for both Norwegian and Widerøe.

For those travelling for Christmas, we advise booking early to secure their plans. We have just opened our new base in Gran Canaria, which, in addition to the new and exciting leisure routes, will support our operations in the upcoming winter season,” said Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian. Norwegian Air’s available seat kilometers (ASK) reached 3,437 million in October, marking a 10% increase from the same period last year.

The actual passenger traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometers (RPK), rose to 2,982 million, up by 11% compared to October 20.
