The first set of waders were the all-rubber Red Ball’s with the boots welded to the pants. The Red Ball’s were rubber poured over fabric and while very waterproof, they would build up a sweat on even a nice spring day, and the sweat would make you wet on the inside from perspiration. These waders were good in streams and ponds that did not have slippery rocks or weeds and worked fine on our clear mountain streams.

The downside was within a year or two the rubber would start to crack. If you stayed on top of it with bicycle tire tube patch kits, you might get another year out of the Red Ball’s. Javascript is required for you to be able to read premium content.
