ACTRESS Daisy Edgar-Jones has addressed romance rumours with her former co-star Paul Mescal after a “wild” snap of them went viral. The pair shot to stardom after they both appeared in the hit TV drama Normal People in 2020. After they had worked together, fans online were quick to spark romance rumours between the co-stars.

The speculation reached fever pitch back in 2022, when Paul, who at the time was in a relationship with american singer Phoebe Bridgers , attended the met gala with his partner and Daisy. Eagle-eyed viewers noticed that in one shot, the 28-year-old was stood on the Met Gala staircase looking longingly at Daisy while his girlfriend stood by his side. The photo quickly became a pop culture phenomenon and was a commonly seen meme online.

And while doing press for her new movie Twisters, the 26-year-old actress was asked about the iconic photo. Speaking to WhoWhatWear Daisy said: "Yes I have seen the image, it's kind of wild given the innocence behind it. "I was having a kind of out-of-body experience with the Met Gala.

So Paul had said like, 'Come and meet me and we could do it together.' " However, she explained that despite this being an opportunity to bask in their stardom together Paul ended up arriving to the Met Gala late, leaving Daisy waiting for him and his partner at the entrance. And Daisy believed that this is the reason behind his rogue smile on the red carpet She explained: “Finally Paul came with Pheebs and we were waiting and did the carpet together.

.. he’s my pal so he’s probably just going ‘hey, there she is.

'" Referring to the photo she added: "The thing I find most sad about this photo - I had been in COVID for most of this time doing press on Zoom. "This was one of the few times I’d actually been in person, so I didn’t know how to pose on a red carpet so I think what’s most tragic about this really is the deep leg cross that I committed to in every photo.” Earlier in the interview, Daisy had been asked to "describe her male co-stars in one word.

" When a photo of Paul flashed up her first reaction was a small giggle as she said: " Paul Mescal , Irish." She added: "No, Paul Mescal..

. cool. No sorry he's a dweeb and he will know that.

" "Paul Mescal, real." Paul can been seen on screens next November as he stars in Ridley Scott's Gladiator ii. Meanwhile Daisy's new film Twisters comes out on July 19th.
