Nicole Kidman has had quite the style evolution. While she always hits a high note on screen, with a career spanning decades the “Babygirl” actress, 57, admits in her interview for W Magazine’s Best Performance Issue 2024 that some of her past fashion moments weren’t, well, great. “My mama thought I had many bad red carpet looks,” she confessed when asked.
“I remember wearing a headdress once to the Golden Globes,” Kidman continued. “I didn’t know what I was doing. Got to have a few train wrecks!” Kidman appears to be referencing the 2004 awards show, where she chose a Dior midi dress covered in metallic paillettes and a glittering gold headband in her flapper-style curled hair.
She clearly cracked the code on red carpet dressing, however, as the award-winning actress has worn plenty of swoon-worthy gowns over the years. Her favorite of the bunch? A chartreuse Dior gown designed by John Galliano, which she modeled for the 1997 Oscars with then-husband Tom Cruise. The elegant sleeveless style featured floral embroidery around the neckline and down the sides and Kidman paired the look with a very-nineties dark lipstick.
“But I also love the Galliano gold gown for the 2000 Oscars, which no one talks about,” Kidman added, shouting out the gold mesh gloves she wore as an accessory. No stranger to a menswear-inspired look , she adds that she’s partial to tie and suit moment. “My natural way of dressing would be far more pants, tie, suit, and a jacket,�.
