Nicky Byrne is teasing his return to presenting two years after his exit from Dancing with the Stars (DWTS). Playing a large role in the celebrity dance competition’s success on RTÉ, Nicky left the show in 2022 after five series, due to his Westlife commitments. Initially presenting the first two seasons with Amanda Byram, Nicky was joined on the programme by Jennifer Zamparelli for three seasons before he announced his surprise exit.
After a lengthy search by RTÉ for Nicky’s successor, former 2FM DJ and podcaster Doireann Garrihy landed the job in 2023. Now that his two-year tour of the world with his bandmates is over, Nicky has taken to social media with a major hint that he is preparing to take the next step in his presenting journey. Sharing an image of his silhouette to his story in front of a blue background with a shushing face emoji, the word ‘podcast’ can be seen in the background along with other hints.
Other items seen in the image include a sign that has a laundry schedule on it, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figure, a Coca-Cola glass and a pair of gloves. Fans have been speculating since the beginning of the year that Nicky could be getting ready to enter the world of podcasting after a number of high-profile celebrities visited his home. Take That’s Gary, Barlow, former Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara, ex-boxer Wayne McCullough and singer Tom Davis are just some of the famous faces who have posed with Nicky in his Malahide home.
