To help save lives and stock blood banks of hospitals in the country, the National Insurance Commission (NIC), as part of its corporate social responsibility, decided to donate blood to all blood banks in the country from August to October this year. The Central Regional Director of the NIC, Nicholina Naa Yeye Adumuah, addressed donors shortly before the exercise and disclosed that the NIC was adjudged the highest donor to stock blood banks in the country in 2023. This, she explained helped to save accident victims, women in labor, children suffering from anemia, and many others that needed blood in hospitals across 16 regions in the country.
She, therefore, pleaded with all to support this year’s exercise better than they did earlier for a better Ghana. She used the occasion to advise indifferent people to make up their minds to donate blood as early as possible; explaining the move is a healthy lifestyle and enables them to gain an advantage over others when seeking medical attention at health centers. Madam Nicholina Naa Yeye Adumuah added that the adjudgment of NIC in 2023 as Ghana’s best blood donor was due to the commitment of the commission to serve its clients and the entire citizenry well.
