Guwahati: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has initiated a suo motu case regarding construction of luxury hotels in and around Kaziranga National Park (KNP). The case has been filed under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, by NGT ’s principal bench, following reports in the media. The tribunal is yet to schedule a hearing date.

Recently, the Assam govt signed an agreement with the Tata group to construct a five-star hotel near KNP.
