It's an unfortunate reality that sports fandom can bring out behaviors so bad in people that players, coaches and executives often have to protect themselves. Unfortunately, one NFL head coach is now forced to sell his home entirely for that reason. In a recent interview with Crain's Detroit Business , Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell revealed that he and his wife have been forced to sell their homes over security concerns after their address was leaked following a loss that the team suffered.

He said that it's a beautiful property with a great neighborhood but that it simply became too risky to live there once people learned they owned the home. “The neighborhood, everything (is positive),” Campbell told Crain’s Nick Manes. “There’s plenty of space, it’s on 2 acres, the home is beautiful.

It’s just that people figured out where we lived when we lost.” Crain's Detroit Campbell has become a beloved figure in the Detroit metro area for leading the Lions to the NFC Championship Game for just the second time in the Super Bowl era. His team came up just one half short of reaching the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history.

Sadly, whether it's fans of the Lions who hate that the team lost a game or fans of other teams angry that Campbell's team beat theirs, it's simply not safe for sports figures or most celebrities in general to have their address public knowledge unless they have Secret Service-level protection. On the plus side, LionsWire reported that it is "pending sale" with a $4.5 million sticker price, so the Campbell family should be able to recoup a lot of the money they put into the home. Related: House Address For Lions Coach Dan Campbell Has Leaked.
