Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker missed an extra point for the first time in nearly two calendar years during Sunday night's 22-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons. The errant PAT, which came after Patrick Mahomes found JuJu Smith-Schuster on a touchdown pass in the third quarter, ultimately did not come back to bite Butker and the Chiefs. It did, however, provide fodder for some of the kicker's ardent critics.

Butker has been something of a lightning rod since his graduation speech at Benedictine College in May. During the address, Butker made several controversial remarks, including ones that went viral about women in the workplace. “I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolic lies told to you,” Butker said .

“Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother.” Luke Hales/Getty Images Shortly after Butker missed last night, there were both women and men ready to react on social media.

"Seeing Butker fail," said one woman, sharing a photo of a person smiling. "My mom after Butker missed the PAT: 'Someone needs to go and make him a sandwich,'" a Chiefs fan added. "Falcons lost, but Butker missed an extra point and that was cool and fun!" another person added .

"Probably should quit kicking and get back to the kitchen so his life can truly start!" a TikTok commenter chimed in . "That was for women everywhere," a fifth person said. While there are clearly a sizable amount of people hoping to see Butker fail, the kicker also has his share of fans.

His jersey was one of the top sellers in the NFL from March 1-May 31, the NFLPA announced last week. Related: Harrison Butker Sees Huge Jump In NFL Jersey Sale Rankings.
