Humhu won the hearts of cinema lovers with his portrayal of bounty hunter Krane in Kalki 2898 AD. He received immense praise for his spectacular performance, particularly for the gripping action scenes in Nag Ashwin's blockbuster. New Delhi: While Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, continues to dominate the Box Office, excitement among cinema lovers is already reaching new heights for its next installment.

Interestingly, we got the chance to engage in a candid conversation with Humhu, who played the bounty hunter Krane in Nag Ashwin’s directorial, ahead of the movie’s OTT release. He not only shared some exciting details about his relationship with the lead cast of the epic science fiction film but also revealed that the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD will be even more ‘thrilling’. Q: From Bihar to Mumbai, what brought you to the city of dreams in 2012? A: My parents grew up in Bihar and my father served in the Indian military so that had us travelling across the country.

I came to Bombay attracted by its vibrant theatre scene right after my Bachelor’s from Symbiosis in Pune. There was always a performer in me and the city felt like the perfect place to live, learn and perform in. Q: How did you land your role in the biggest movie that India has ever produced? A: It all happened very quickly, to be honest.

They asked me to audition and within an hour or so of sending in my tape they took me on board and we started rehearsing and shooting very soon after. Q: What was your reaction when you got the call confirming that you had been cast as the bounty hunter? A: I was over the moon having learnt of my confirmation. It happened out of nowhere, it took a while for the scale and scope of the project to really sink in.

It made me feel seen and validated. Q: Was there any nervousness on your first day on the set of Kalki 2898 AD? A: There definitely was. But somehow I was able to overpower that with my grit and confidence.

Q: Now, let’s talk about action. How tough was it battling it out with Prabhas and what kind of training you went through? A: I went through rigorous gymnastics training to bring out the agility in action scenes. Battling out with the legendary Prabhas was nothing short of a dream come true.

His larger-than-life persona and his heart of gold were a privilege to witness and work with. However it was physically very taxing, and I also ended up incurring injuries. But I always had the comfort and support of the action directors and their huge hard-working teams.

A post shared by Roshini Kumar (@rosh93) Q: Off-camera, what was your relationship like with Prabhas and Deepika on the sets? A: With both these megastars, I felt comforted and reassured. Prabhas personally gave me tips in our action scenes. I remember Deepika cracking a joke to ease my nerves on day 1 of shooting with her.

They’re both professional and team players, it was my honour to have worked with them. Q: What are your preparations for the next part of Kalki 2898 AD? Are you sharing the screen with other big actors in the next installment? A: Preparations for a performing artist are always on, project or no project. About the next installment of KALKI 2898 AD, all I can say is that it will be even more thrilling and wonderful than part 1.

Q: Apart from Kalki, what other future projects do you have lined up? A: I am currently touring with my theatrical production and photobook both by the name of ‘Boys will be Toys’. Apart from this, there is also a beautiful new film project about which I’m afraid I can’t talk much at the moment. Q: Is there any dream character that you would like to portray on the silver screen in the future? A: Sakespear’s Hamlet.

Also Arthur Fleck from Joker. Q: On your social media, what stands out is your fashion sense. Tell us how you developed it, and what do you feel your fashion communicates? A: My fashion communicates a strong sense of yin and yang, masc and femme, master and slave, angelic and demonic, freedom and captivity.

It’s been in development since childhood. It has strong influences of what my father and mother wore. I also borrowed heavily from music videos, films, fashion magazines, video games and the very precious queer community.
