Monday, September 9, 2024 The New Zealand Immigration Department is urging travellers to submit their tourist visa applications well in advance, recommending at least two months before the busy summer season in December. The department has set October 15 as the final date for timely submissions, warning that those who miss this deadline may face delays in receiving their visas. According to Immigration New Zealand (INZ), they anticipate receiving over 260,000 visitor visa applications during the peak processing period.

This surge in applications could overwhelm the system, increasing the risk of delays. A spokesperson for INZ emphasized the importance of accuracy in submissions, stating that visa applications submitted after the recommended deadline or with incorrect information might not be processed in time for the intended travel dates. Adding to the urgency, INZ reminded travellers of recent updates to visa fees.

From October 1, visa charges will rise from NZD 211 (R2,315) to NZD 341 (R3,740), making it even more crucial to submit applications correctly and promptly. In light of these changes, the department advises travellers to not only submit their applications early but to ensure all required documents are accurate and complete. This will help avoid unnecessary delays, giving travellers peace of mind as they prepare for their trip to New Zealand during the busy holiday season.
