CLEMSON — A longtime franchise has closed its doors on Tiger Boulevard in Clemson, but new restaurants are moving in to ensure there are plenty of options for eateries on the city’s main thoroughfare. Meanwhile, Bricks and Minifigs has set its opening date for its new location in Central. The Lego resale store will be next to Fiesta Grill on Eighteen Mile Road in the former Sally Beauty Supply shop.

It has already hosted some buy-back days to begin building inventory ahead of its formal debut next month. It’s at 1280 Eighteen Mile Road, Suite F, in the shopping center next to Walmart and opens to the public on Sept. 21.

Mugshot Coffee , hard to miss with Mugzy the felonious mascot mural on the side of the black building, serves hot and iced coffee from 6 a.m.

to 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, Mug Shot reopens from 6:30 to 8 p.m., catering to those attending practices across the street on Bolick Field.

On Tiger Boulevard, fast-casual food is never too far away. While Pizza Hut has closed its location, a new pizza joint – Stoner’s Pizza Joint , to be specific – began serving its menu of pies, salads and cinnamon rolls on Aug. 2.

Story continues below It took over the former Sweet Spot Bake Shop at 1607 Tiger Blvd., Suite 20, next to Zen Ramen and Jersey Mike’s. Stoner’s serves its calzones, strombolis – including cheesecake – jumbo wings, small and large pizzas starting at 11 a.

m. daily. It’s open until midnight Sunday through Thursday and, catering to the late-night crowd, keeps the doors open until 2 a.

m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Just down the street, a new restaurant is planned for 1112 Tiger Blvd.

The Athens, Ga.-based morning coffee and donut shop serves smashburgers, chicken and fries on its afternoon menu. While it will have a drive-through, developers told the city it has a focus on the dine-in experience.

Closer to Lake Hartwell, the former Subway building next to Dockside is getting a bit of a facelift – and some access improvements – on its way to becoming HipBurger. The South Carolina-based franchise currently has a location in Mauldin and serves a variety of burgers, chicken sandwiches, nuggets and milkshakes..
