Thursday, July 18, 2024 The Port of Oakland has appointed Doug Mansel as the new Acting Assistant Director of Aviation at San Francisco Bay’s Oakland International Airport (OAK). In this role, Mr. Mansel will oversee Aviation Security, Terminal Services, Airside Operations, and Parking and Ground Transportation at OAK.

“The promotion of Doug to Acting Assistant Director of Aviation is a well-deserved testament to over two decades of his dedication and service to the Port of Oakland and OAK,” says Craig Simon, Director of Aviation at the Port of Oakland. “I have full confidence in Doug’s leadership of the airport’s key operational departments in his new role.” Mr.



Mansel has been with the Port of Oakland since 2000, starting as an Aviation Planner in the Aviation Planning and Development Department. In 2006, he was promoted to Airside Operations Superintendent, where he managed the airport’s day-to-day operations, including the Airport Emergency Plan. Since 2010, Mr.

Mansel has served as OAK’s Aviation Security Manager, overseeing compliance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations, the ID Badging Office, and contract law enforcement services. Mr. Mansel is a past chair of the ACI-NA Operations and Technical Affairs Committee as well as the Public Safety and Security Committee.

He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and is also a professional flight instructor..
