The airline will deploy its 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft on this route, providing a direct link between these two cities.
According to OAG Schedules Analyser data, Tigerair Taiwan will be the only airline offering nonstop flights between Kaohsiung and Okayama, underscoring its commitment to expanding connectivity in the region. As a key player in Taiwan’s aviation landscape, Tigerair Taiwan operates as a low-cost carrier (LCC) based at Taoyuan International Airport. The airline was originally formed as a joint venture, with China Airlines Group holding an 80% stake, Mandarin Airlines owning 10%, and Tiger Airways Holdings also holding 10%.
However, in 2017, China Airlines acquired the shares previously held by Budget Aviation Holdings, following the merger of Tigerair Singapore with Scoot, further consolidating its position in the market. Tigerair Taiwan stands as the only low-cost carrier in Taiwan, a distinction it achieved following the collapse of TransAsia Airways and V Air in 2016. The airline has since become a crucial player in providing affordable travel options for Taiwanese and international passengers alike.
The airline’s commitment to maintaining the Tigerair branding sets it apart, especially after the discontinuation of Tigerair Australia in March 2020.
