New images show what a dilapidated arcade could look like following a major refurbishment. The 101-year-old Imperial Arcade in Western Road, Brighton , used to be a “thriving hub for footfall” but has been lined with empty shops for years. Moretons Investments bought the site last year and ever since has been working to transform it back to its former glory.

The company said it will overhaul the building back into an “exciting commercial space” that will “thrive once again” with luxury flats above. It said its “ultimate vision” is to create a new city centre focal point that combines eclectic food and retail offerings, with luxury living accommodations in close proximity. Moretons said progress is in "full swing" with the cosmetic work on parts of the arcade complete and planning permission for new residential accommodation secured .
